coffee with alcohol drinks Frequently Asked Questions
Now that the FDA has banned Caffeine & Alcohol premixed drinks,?
Does that mean we should no longer drink "Rum & Coke" unless its made with caffeine free Coke?
For that matter what about those mixed drinks which use Red Bull?
Should Bar's be prevented from serving coffee to patrons who have consumed alcohol?
Instead of an outright ban, should the FDA required a warning label on the can instead, just like what is on a pack of cigarettes...
So how come cigarettes aren't banned now....
Is this another example of heavy handed government not thinking through the issue and blindly imposing its will ?

It is very silly. If pre-mixed caffeine and alcohol is bad, why isn't post-mixed alcohol and caffeine bad?
Their are warning labels on the can. The truth is, the FDA is responding to incidents that have to do with overconsumption of these drinks, sometimes by minors, and because they don't have a good reason to ban them they make one up.
can i go into amsterdam coffee shops if im not 18?
i will be 16 when i got to amsterdam so i want to know if im allowed in to the coffee shops even if im not ganna buy. also can i buy alcohol and just drink it on the street if im 16. and i know in america you don't have to be 18 to smoke cigarettes but you just can't but. so even though im 16 can i still smoke it without buying. aswell can i just smoke it on the street like with a bong, or can you only smoke joints on the street
Coffeeshops are licenced to see marijuana, but one of the terms of conditions is that under 18's are not permitted on the premisis, therefore no you are not allowed to enter as a minor, no. Now of course you are probably going to take the "I'll chance it" approach. I have to tell you that there has been increasing pressure to close some coffeeshops in the past few years and therefore locals & regular tourists are quite frankly sick of the chancers. By entering, you are breaking the conditions of selling and risking the licence of the premisis. So please do everyone a favour and wait until you are 18.
As for smoking on the street then there are some cases where people do it, but it's not exactly appreciated or respected. Using a bong on the streets is quite frankly a stupid notion
You also cannot drink on the streets of Amsterdam no (actually even standing on a terrace of a bar with a drink is techicially not permitted!) and being on the streets with an open container is not permitted. Simple as that. Also at 16 you can buy wine & beer but only up to 15% alcohol content, and yes, ID will be checked.
Let me tell you, Amsterdam is a perfectly normal city. It has 'toleration' for marijuana being sold in coffeeshops and there's no big deal about going there and smoking a joint, but it's not a den of inequity where anything goes and people are just walking around smoking & drinking on the streets in a general free-for-all. It certainly doesn't have toleration for tourists who want to take things to excess and stumble around like zombies because they are stoned & drunk (as usually it's a combination and this is the worst) as hell.
Having lived there (and living close enough still to visit often) I really think you have completely the wrong idea and will likely be disappointed if this is what you expect!
