I drink 1 cup of coffee everyday at breakfast. I was just wondering if its bad for my health.
Everything is bad and good for your health all at the same time. Doesn't it just suck?
Studies have shown the right amounts of coffee to be good for women. Studies have also shown that that amounts of caffeine are bad. And there is a study out there that shows something about every part of coffee to be good or bad, so why not just enjoy it? I drink about a cup and a half every morning and I figure as long as I keep it off my teeth to prevent cavaties that's as much as I can do.
Where can you buy coffee with less acidity?
My hubby has REFLUX and he was told there is a special coffee that is easier on the stomach. But we weren't given a name or brand for it. Decaf doesn't seem to make a difference for him as we have tried different brands. He uses creamer and barely small amounts of sugar. He has already given up so much for his health that i hope to not add this to the long list.. (he is down to 2 smokes a day and doesn't drink any alcohol anymore- not that he was ever a drunk)
Any help would be great! Name of coffee, brand, and aprox. price would be very helpful. I could even order online but not very often...something easily accessable would be best like safeway or someplace like that.
okay, aside from buying low acid coffee online (not sure if it's at your store, just check the labels...i know Folgers makes a low acid called "simply smooth") here are some recommendations:
1) buy dark roast coffee...the roasting process degrades the acids in the beans and results in a lower acidity brew

2) Cold brew your coffee...I brew mine in a french press (2 tablespoons whole bean ground rough per 4 ounces room temp water for 12 hours) though commercial models are available. Using cold water extracts fewer acids from the beans than hot water. The product will be concentrated, so you can dilute with water, but I prefer to just add a little milk.

though the first link mentions a possible decrease in caffeine extraction with cold brewing, I've never noticed any lessened effect...and I'm a person who needs my caffeine
