Should I get a chocolate colored sofa(sectional)?
I want to update my living room and need some decorating advice. We have hardwood floors, a cream/beige color on the walls, a merlot/red color curtains, a red area rug with some pattern (squares), and a leather ottoman as a coffee table.
I am a big fan of the pottery barn. I am wondering if I could get a choclate sectional for the room without making it look too small or too 'dark'. I like to be in style and I don't want to get something that is going to go out of style next year..so let me know!

Go ahead a get it. Use accessories for color like your curtains and area rug. Could stay with the red tones and add couch throw pillows or afgans or folded up blankets on backs of couch, pictures, etc... Many times I get 'accessory' material from fabric store to complement my taste & room colors for tops of furniture & on back of couch.

You need a piece of upholstery grade or size of the stands hardwood as you want. Then make a 2x4 or 2x6 format as it matches the external shape and dimensions of the top of the Ottoman Empire. If the Empire Ottoman is not well padded top can be sure as it is and you can convert back at will. If the ottoman is padded may very well have to remove the top layer of padding, and screw through the wood structure under the table under its own ottoman.
