How to I arrange big furniture in a small living space?

Got new furniture (over sized couch, love seat and chair that is the size of a normal love seat) and I might of messed up the scale, I like it and can't return it anyhow. So how do I make it work for the smaller size of my living space?

Would it help the size by removing the feet on the new stuff? It has these screw on feet that are keeping it almost six inches off the floor my son drove his remote control car under the couch it's that high. Is it safe to remove the feet like will it break or wreck my flooring?

Gosh I need some help here!

It is very difficult to answer your question without seeing the space. Consider your transit paths through the room and the activities you do in the space. When you get new pieces, it is not uncommon to let some of the older ones go. Can the leather covered chest, for example, become the coffee table or the printer table? Just because things were in the LR before does not mean they cannot be move to another part of the house or completely out of the house.

Spend some time watching HGTV and you will get ideas about room arrangement.

Painting our coffee tables?

We have these really nice coffee tables and don't want to get rid of them, but the color is kinda getting boring so we were thinking about painting them. They are finished and everything so I'm guessing they would have to be sanded down? I bought a book about painting furniture, but it is not that specific. Has anyone painted their finished coffee or end tables and how did you do it? Did it turn out well? Did it last? etc. THANKS! :-)

If you are wanting to restain them, you will have to remove all of the current finish. Homer Forby's products work very well for this.
If you are wanting to paint over the current finish, use a product called liquid sandpaper. or liquid deglosser, then use a fine sand paper, clean and paint.
Another option is to prime with an oil based primer such as Kilz or Zap, when dry you can use any interior paint of your choice, eggshell or semi gloss would work well. You could then go a step further and rub in a minwax gel stain or antiquing glaze to settle in the reveals for a more weathered or antiqued look. Navajo white is a good base coat color to use with stains for this effect. Depends on the look you are gong for.
You could use enamel as well, more durable, just make sure you have the right brush for enamel as brush strokes will show.
